I was scheduled to be induced on Wednesday morning, but a part of me wanted to just go into labor on my own. Well, on Tuesday morning at 4:45, I woke feeling really bad pains. I thought they would just go away. They just kept coming. I started pacing back and forth in our bedroom. Chase woke up and saw what I was doing. I told him, "I am in pain!" I decided I would wait it out
alittle bit because I didn't want to go to the hospital and get sent home. I took a shower and blow dried my hair... the whole time having really painful contractions. We finally decided it was time to go because the pain was
unbearable. We left our house around 5:55 AM. Of course, when we got on the road there was traffic. I was screaming in pain and yelling at Chase to get me to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 6:45 AM, and I was put in a labor room immediately. I knew that my doctor would not be able to deliver me. We had the induction scheduled for the next day because she would be out of town until then. I had an older guy come in and tell me that he would be my doctor. They checked me, and I was already dilated to 6. The nurse tried putting an IV in me and the first vein blew. Then she got in the second time. By this time the contractions were about 1-2 minutes apart. Then at 7:10 AM the
Doctor came in to give me the epidural. When he was putting in the needle, I moved. Then he had to move down and try again. He told me that since I moved there was a chance that I would have a spinal fluid leak. At this point, I didn't care... I just wanted the pain to go away. Once the epidural kicked in, I felt great. My labor went extremely quick. When they checked me the second time, I was dilated 8-9, the next time 9 and he broke my water, and then I was fully dilated and ready to push. The nurse came in a told us that Dr. Jackson does something different than Dr.
Luethcke. He lets the dads deliver the baby if they want. Of course Chase was like YES! When it was time to start pushing, Chase and the Dr. both had to get sterile. I pushed for 25 minutes, and then Colby Michael was born at 1:44PM. It was such a surreal moment. This baby is ours forever! I did end up getting the spinal fluid leak from my epidural which I still have a massive headache from, but it was all worth it to hold our little man in our arms.
