2 Week Check-up

Colby went for his 2 week appointment yesterday. Everything looks good! He is now back to his birth weight and weighs 8lb. 3 1/2 oz. He is 21 inches long and his head is measuring 14 1/2 inches. He is in the 50-75% for weight and height! His umbilical cord was hanging on by a string, so the doctor cut it off with surgical scissors and then put silver nitrate on it. The belly button was kind of scary to me. I am glad that it is off! Colby also had to have his heel pricked, so they could get blood. That broke my heart...I don't know how I will get through his 2 month appointment when he will get 5 shots! Maybe, I will just send daddy on that day:) We are still working on the sleep thing. He doesn't seem to want to sleep at night. He loves to sleep during the day though:) We have the perfect shirt for him..."Sleep all day, up all night!"

The day we welcomed our little man into the world...

I was scheduled to be induced on Wednesday morning, but a part of me wanted to just go into labor on my own. Well, on Tuesday morning at 4:45, I woke feeling really bad pains. I thought they would just go away. They just kept coming. I started pacing back and forth in our bedroom. Chase woke up and saw what I was doing. I told him, "I am in pain!" I decided I would wait it out alittle bit because I didn't want to go to the hospital and get sent home. I took a shower and blow dried my hair... the whole time having really painful contractions. We finally decided it was time to go because the pain was unbearable. We left our house around 5:55 AM. Of course, when we got on the road there was traffic. I was screaming in pain and yelling at Chase to get me to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 6:45 AM, and I was put in a labor room immediately. I knew that my doctor would not be able to deliver me. We had the induction scheduled for the next day because she would be out of town until then. I had an older guy come in and tell me that he would be my doctor. They checked me, and I was already dilated to 6. The nurse tried putting an IV in me and the first vein blew. Then she got in the second time. By this time the contractions were about 1-2 minutes apart. Then at 7:10 AM the Doctor came in to give me the epidural. When he was putting in the needle, I moved. Then he had to move down and try again. He told me that since I moved there was a chance that I would have a spinal fluid leak. At this point, I didn't care... I just wanted the pain to go away. Once the epidural kicked in, I felt great. My labor went extremely quick. When they checked me the second time, I was dilated 8-9, the next time 9 and he broke my water, and then I was fully dilated and ready to push. The nurse came in a told us that Dr. Jackson does something different than Dr. Luethcke. He lets the dads deliver the baby if they want. Of course Chase was like YES! When it was time to start pushing, Chase and the Dr. both had to get sterile. I pushed for 25 minutes, and then Colby Michael was born at 1:44PM. It was such a surreal moment. This baby is ours forever! I did end up getting the spinal fluid leak from my epidural which I still have a massive headache from, but it was all worth it to hold our little man in our arms.

Sneak Peak at Our Little Angel!

We had newborn pictures done today of our little Colby. I found a photographer online and was very excited to document the first days of our little man's life. Shalonda Chaddock of Chubby Cheeks Photography was awesome. She did about a 4 hour shot. Colby was a pretty good model, as we posed him:) The pictures turned out amazing. The sneak peak is up on her blog, and we should have the official gallery in 2 weeks. Here is the blog to look at the sneak peak.
